The tour leads from Hopfgarten into the Windau valley and via a short, but demanding climb up to Westendorf. From there continue along the cycling path to Brixen. In Brixen we exchange the cycling path for the main road to Kitzbühel. After a short visit to the famous winter resort the conquest of the Kitzbüheler Horn can start. With a maximum gradient of 22,3% the “Horn” is the steepest mountain for cycling in Austria and one of the most challenging climbs in the international, professional cycling scene. The panorama road leading to the peak of the mountain branches off the road to St. Johann. At "Höglern", which has been the start of the famous Kitzbüheler Horn mountain cycling race for decades, there is a permanent time measurement facility which provides information about your own personal best time. Follow the road uphill to the mountain restaurant Alpenhaus. After the exhausting ascent you will enjoy the descent even more. To return we choose the route via Reith and on to Going, then further on to Ellmau, Scheffau, Söll and Itter. Get off the main road there and turn left into the road leading uphill to the village of Itter from where the road then leads downhill again to Hopfgarten.
