Solstice fire on Hohe Salve
The celebration for the summer solstice on the summit
Please note: Due to the Covid-19 regulations there will be no evening gondola operation in Hopfgarten in 2020
The solstice has a long tradition in the Holiday Region Hohe Salve and is a true spectacle. The mountaintops are ablaze when the longest day comes upon the shortest night. On 20 June fires are lit on the mountaintops. The fires are supposed to boost the power of the sun and keep away evil from humans and animals. Witness a unique tradition on the summit of Hohe Salve. The fires in the evening mountain ambience will impress you!
In the Holiday Region Hohe Salve, every year numerous groups and clubs set off for the mountaintops, where shortly after darkness sets in they light the big fires. The flames then shine mystically from the summits. The people on the mountain welcome summer with the fires and celebrate the longest day of the year. In Hopfgarten this special day sees a big fire lit on the summit of Hohe Salve.
