Hiking villages

The association "Austria’s Hiking Villages" was founded in the year 1991 under the name "Village holidays in Austria". Already at the time, the objective was to support and promote tourism with ecological aspiration and according to strictly selected criteria.

7 years later, the association decided to focus on hiking and mountain adventures. This also gave rise to the name "Austria’s Hiking Villages". The association works primarily on developing contemporary hiking offers and exchanging valuable information. In addition, people interested in hiking and their hiking destinations are looked after.

The two villages of Hopfgarten and Kelchsau can now count themselves among the certified hiking villages.
