Stage 2 from Brixen im Thale to Kirchberg:
The ascent to Brixenbachalm via an artistically designed stage of the cross is a first highlight of the day. Through open wood and alpine pasture areas you reach the Wiegalm which is picturesquely nestled in a saddle. From here it is only a short climb to the long mountain ridge of Gaisberg mountain. The geological structure of the upper area on the Gaisberg also changes the landscape and vegetation: limestone dominates with karst formations and mountain pine growth. The summit also offers a fantastic 360° panoramic view. The descent through a lovely mixed forest can be shortened at the end by taking the chairlift.
On this stage you'll need approx. 7 hours for a distance of 13,5 km. Altitude difference uphill - 1000 m, downhill - 950m.
The participation is free of charge. Only the cable car tickets have to be paid.
