Via Brixenbach to the Gampenkogel

Departing from the Tourist Information Office, Brixen, we walk initially to the area of Brixenbach.  From the Reiterbrücke (bridge) there are two options – either via the “Stations of the Cross” route (beautiful hiking trail across meadows) or along the wide forest road to the Brixenbachalm and onwards to the Wiegalm.  Immediately behind the Wiegalm, the route leads to the right in the direction of Kreuzjöcklsee (lake) / Brechhornhaus.  Shortly before the lake follow the signposts to the Gampenkogel.  A very steep uphill climb leads along the ridge to the summit of the Gampenkogel.  Descent can be either the same route or along the westerly route to the Einködlscharte and on to the Brechhornhaus / Kreuzjöchlsee
