Traversing the Gerstinger Joch (ridge)

Our tour description is in the direction from the Windautal valley in Westendorf - of course you can also do this tour in the opposite direction.
We start this wonderful tour with a comfortable journey with the hiking taxi to the Gasthaus Steinberg into the Windautal valley.
We follow the road for a distance into the valley and turn left after the Pastau Alpe parking area, cross the Windauer Ache bridge and follow the forest road in numerous serpentines continuously uphill. We follow the KAT WALK signs until we reach the Hintenkarscharte. At the Hintenkarscharte we keep to the right (southerly direction) and follow the well-marked hiking trail to the Gerstinger Joch. Here we cross the summit and hike eastwards on a relatively steep, sometimes exposed path quickly downhill. From the Haglangeralm we can again follow the signs KAT WALK to the Labalm.
From the Labalm you follow the road to Aschau and from there you can take the public bus to Kirchberg (from there you can take the bus or train to Westendorf).
