Tour across Brechhorn and Floch

The starting point for our hike is the Alpenrosenbahn mountain-top station, Talkaser. We take the walking route No. 81, passing Laubkogel, Fleiding, across the Höhninger Scharte in the direction of Brechhornhaus. Having arrived at Brechhornhaus, we follow the signpost to the right leading us to Brechhorn. The route takes us across mountain pastures, into a small valley, then a steeper climb until we reach a small, east-facing view-point. A little breather here gives us the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful panorama of the Kitzbühel Alps and the Wilder Kaiser. Continuing on, the trail brings us across the Schledererkopf.  From now on, our hike is significantly steeper. Having overcome this hurdle, it is not much further to Brechhorn. A slightly west running ridge concludes our trail and leads us directly to the summit. From here, the highest point, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Hohe Tauern, the Kitzbühel Alps and the Zillertal Alps. The prominent peak of the Big Rettenstein seems close enough to touch. For those of you with enough energy, you can continue on to the Floch. The route No. 82 takes us in a southerly direction along the ridge.  Sure-footedness and a head for heights are an absolute necessity here! Going straight-ahead we pass two signs, firstly across a pre-peak, finally to the Floch summit. Done it!! Berg Heil!! For the return journey, we travel a short way back along the path we have just come, at the signpost in the dip we turn to the left, following the signposts for “Brandeggalm”.  From here on, we follow a road down the valley, pass the Schledernalm, shortly afterwards we turn to the right uphill and finally arrive back at the Brechhornhaus.
