An enjoyable tour for the whole family! It takes you through the picturesque Windau valley with frequent comfortable refreshment stops possible and the chance to get to know regional delicacies. The highlight is the Käsealm Straubing. In the quaint hut you get a rustic “Brettljause” (a snack on a platter) and of course delicious cheese specialities from the region.
The tour starts at the tourist office in Westendorf, accessible from Kirchberg or Brixen via the Brixen Valley cycle path 21. From here you briefly follow the Brixen Valley cycle path along the road into the Windau, past the golf course and then down to the right to the Lendwirt inn. Here, turn to the left, then right over a small bridge, keep to the left and continue along the idyllic mountain river until the route turns right to Käsealm Straubing (No. 207). From here, continue in the direction of the Windau until you reach the asphalt road. This road (route 208), which is not very busy, leads you comfortably back to Westendorf, where a delicious ice cream may be waiting for you as a reward.
