Nature discovery trail

The starting point for the nature experience trail is the Hintenbachalm (accessible by car for a toll fee). From the car park we hike a short distance on the Unteren Grund path northwards in the direction of Aschau until we reach the junction in the Schöntalweg. After a barrier, the trail goes uphill to the Sonnwendalm, which is an original cheese hut. The trail continues southwards towards Schöntalgraben and Schöntalalm. Continue along the Rettensteinweg, named after the long-serving mayor Herbert Noichl. Descending to the Schusterbaueralm, the trail then continues along the Unteren-Grund-Weg towards Aschau to the Hintenbachalm.  Enroute along the nature discovery trail, you will repeatedly find signs introducing the many small natural beauties and native animals of the Unterer Grund.
