Tour information

A little way along the Roman way towards Kitzbühel, and soon via a single-lane track on asphalt, past farmsteads in the coniferous forest, you quickly gain height. Wilder Kaiser, Kitzbüheler Horn, a view back into the valley - time and time again, the branches reveal a glimpse of the panorama. Past the Stanglalm, you drive up to the Harschbichl for the sole purpose of taking the Harschbichl trail there. With its entrance somewhat hidden at the edge of a reservoir, the trail opens up a varied hunt through woods and meadows, wooded ground and always wide Northshore elements, before finishing in the Apfeldorf district of St. Johann. From here, the Speckbacher Strasse leads directly through the centre and past the baroque church. At the end of the pedestrian zone turn left onto cycle path No. 18.

Along the Tiroler Ache in the direction of Kirchdorf to the district of Habach. From here the final 1,000 vertical metres of the four-day trip await you. At first on the narrow asphalt road and soon on a beautiful forest road in the shade of deciduous trees, the road climbs steadily. Above the tree line, you will find yourself in almost kitschy alpine pastures. The view of the Kitzbüheler Horn, the St. Johanner Becken and the Wilder Kaiser is now completely clear.
And the journey continues upwards, past the Adlerspoint alpine pasture. The highest point is reached shortly before the Gerstbergalm. A little later, the forest road becomes a trail. Only for a short time, because soon the trail will become a carrying trail over steep roots along rock and steps (it is being rebuilt into a shared trail in the summer of 2019 and made less challenging). A little later the path becomes passable again and finally ends at the freight road leading into the valley to St. Ulrich am Pillersee.

Before that there is still the option to stop at the Winterstelleralm, where a platter snack or sugared and shredded pancakes will replenish those energy stores. There is still a good way to go to the finish in Fieberbrunn. Admittedly downhill - perhaps with a short detour to the fantastically beautiful Pillersee - and along quiet cycle paths through the magnificent valley to St. Jakob and then just downhill to Fieberbrunn. The Hotel Alte Post awaits in the centre - ideal for relaxing after the exertions of the last few days.

The next day we take the train with bikes and luggage back to the cars in Hopfgarten. Free for all guests with the Guest Card.
