The starting point of this hike, the Hohe Salve, offers thanks to its free-standing location a 360-degree panorama which is without equal. Apart from the fantastic view it is also the diversified hiking trails which make the summit so popular.
One of the hikes leads past two reservoirs to the Hochbrixen mountain railway. It starts right at the summit. First you walk past the Salvenkirchlein and hike down the rather steep hiking path on the southern slope. Passing the first reservoir, Salvensee, you continue through a little forest until Jordan Chapel. There you find a small spring water fountain to quench your thirst and refresh yourself. Following the path you’ll soon get to the lake Filzalmsee, the outing destination for young and old in Hochbrixen.
A flat forest path leads to the end of the hike, the mountain station of the Hochbrixen gondola lift. To get back to Hopfgarten, it is advisable to take the gondola into the valley to Brixen im Thale and then take the train or bus in the direction of Hopfgarten. Alternatively, other hiking trails lead back to Hopfgarten.
