First walk from Kirchberg’s village centre to the Gaisberglift (large car park). You can make the tour easier by using the lift, otherwise walk a short distance along the cycle path in a southerly direction. At a road that turns slightly uphill to the right (sign "Gaisbergalm") leave the cycle path and walk to the Gasthof Gaisbergalm. Once there, continue South to the BÄRSTATTALM. For those who prefer a more challenging hike over the Gaisberg – turn off to the right steeply uphill above the Bärstattalm. For the more comfortable alternative, keep going South towards the "Kobingerhütte". Here or shortly before the Wiegalm (located a bit further South) both hiking trails meet again. Along a forest road we continue our hike in the direction of "Brechhornhaus" – Kreuzjöchlsee (lake). Shortly before the lake a steep hiking trail branches off to the right. Here you can climb up along the East ridge to the new summit cross and possibly descend on the West ridge. In this case either walk South (left) to the Brechhornhaus and continue along the well-known route, or walk North (right) to the mountain-top station of the Alpenrosenbahn (Westendorf). Descend with the gondola if you prefer and take the bus back to Kirchberg!
